CONSTITUTION OF
Minnesota State College Student Senate Advisor’s Association
Article I - Name
The name of this organization shall be the Minnesota State College Student Senate Advisor’s Association, MSCSSAA.
Article II - Purpose
The purpose of this organization shall be to provide support for students, and student senate advisors from MnSCU Colleges, and to provide mechanism to deal with common concerns. The MSCSSAA shall also serve as a liaison to the Minnesota State College Student Association, MSCSA.
Article III - Membership
- The MSCSSAA is open to any student senate advisor or student life professional affiliated with student government within MnSCU.
- The MSCSSAA does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, color, creed, religion, age, national origin, disability, marital status, status with regard to public assistance, sexual orientation or membership or activity in a local commission as defined by law.
- Voting privileges shall be granted to all members.
Article IV - Officers
Officers. The officers of the MSCSSAA shall include the president and the secretary-treasurer.
Duties and Responsibilities
- The president shall preside at all meetings of the organization and prepare meeting agendas with input from all members.
- The secretary/treasurer shall keep all records of official business and financial transactions, and shall serve as the president during the absence of the president.
Election
- Officers shall be elected by a simple majority vote of the members present.
- The term of each office shall be two years. The president shall be elected on the even years. The secretary-treasurer shall be elected on the odd years.
- If vacancies occur in any of the offices, a simple majority present at the meeting shall elect new officers after the announcement of the vacancy to serve the remaining portion of the term. The president may appoint an interim secretary-treasurer during a vacancy until the next official meeting.

Article VI – Operations
- Quorum
A quorum for conducting any business of the organization shall consist of a simple majority of the membership present at the meeting.
- Meetings
- The regular meeting schedule of MSCSSAA shall coincide with MSCSA’s General Assembly meetings.
- Other meetings may be called by the president, secretary-treasurer, or by a petition of at least ten current members, providing a two-week notice prior to the scheduled meeting.
- If neither the president nor the secretary-treasurer is able to attend a scheduled meeting, the president may appoint a chair of that meeting. If no appointment has been made, the membership shall designate the chair of the meeting.
- Organization Business
The conduct of business of the organization shall comply with Robert’s Rules of Order.
Article VII - Ratification and Amendments
- Ratification
This Constitution shall become effective upon a 2/3 vote of the membership present at the meeting.
- Amendment
This constitution may be amended by a 2/3 vote of the membership present at the meeting.
